A savory and sweet barbecue chicken dish that’s easy to prepare and perfect for busy weeknights or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 6 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
- 1 bottle (18 oz) of Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, and mustard powder. Mix until well blended.
- Lightly season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Place the seasoned chicken breasts in a single layer at the bottom of your crockpot.
- Pour the prepared sauce evenly over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the chicken is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken and shred using two forks. Return it to the sauce and stir to combine.
Notes
For thicker sauce, remove the lid during the last hour of cooking. You can also marinate the chicken in the sauce for a few hours prior to cooking for extra flavor.
