A classic dessert combining juicy strawberries with whipped cream and buttery shortcakes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 package biscuit mix or homemade shortcake recipe
Instructions
- Hull and slice the fresh strawberries, then mix them with the sugar in a bowl. Allow them to sit for about 10 minutes.
- Prepare the shortcake biscuits according to the package instructions or your homemade recipe.
- Whip the heavy cream in a mixing bowl until soft peaks form—be careful not to over-whip!
- Slice the cooled shortcakes in half horizontally.
- Layer the bottom half of each shortcake with a generous serving of strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream.
- Place the top half of the biscuit on your layers and repeat for each serving.
- Serve immediately for that fresh, irresistible taste!
Notes
For best results, use ripe strawberries and consider flavoring whipped cream with vanilla or almond extract for an exciting twist.
