Description

A delightful dessert with tender golden biscuits layered with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, perfect for summer gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for strawberries)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl, whisking them together until well mixed.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or two forks until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk just until everything is moistened—avoid over-mixing.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto a baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the biscuits turn golden brown on top.
  7. Toss the sliced strawberries with sugar and let them sit for about 10 minutes to macerate.
  8. Slice the baked biscuits in half horizontally, layer with the juicy strawberries, and top with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

For the best taste, assemble the shortcake just before serving. You can use dairy-free milk and butter for a dairy-free option.
