A delightful homemade strawberry sauce that elevates pancakes, desserts, and more with its vibrant flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
- ⅓ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice (fresh is best)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Instructions
- In a medium pot, combine the chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir well to coat the strawberries evenly.
- Place the pot over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring regularly to prevent sticking.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let it simmer, stirring occasionally for about 20 to 23 minutes, until desired thickness is reached.
- Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool to room temperature. It will thicken as it cools.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Can be frozen, but leave space in the container as liquids expand when frozen.
