Description

A delightful breakfast casserole combining the decadence of croissants with creamy custard and juicy berries, perfect for brunch or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 5 croissants, torn into 1-inch pieces
  • 1.75 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp finely grated lemon zest
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 3 tbsp cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Beat the cream cheese in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. Add the milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla, lemon zest, and cinnamon to the cream cheese, and whisk until fully combined.
  4. Fold in the croissant pieces and mixed berries, ensuring they are well-coated with the custard mixture.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and let it sit for a few minutes.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown and set.
  7. Prepare the topping while baking by whisking the powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla bean paste together until smooth.
  8. Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving, and then drizzle with the sweet cream.

Notes

For best results, ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature. Consider adding a touch more vanilla extract for richer flavor.
