Description

A colorful and delightful treat perfect for birthday parties and festive occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
  • Frosting (buttercream or cream cheese)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease six 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk until combined.
  6. Divide the batter into six bowls, adding a different food color to each.
  7. Pour each colored batter into the respective cake pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow the layers to cool completely on a rack.
  10. Assemble by placing a layer on a stand, spreading frosting between each, and coating the outside of the cake with more frosting.
  11. Decorate the cake creatively to your liking.

Notes

Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter. Use gel food coloring for more vibrant hues.
