Description

A delightful breakfast casserole combining ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese soaked in a rich egg custard, perfect for brunch or cozy weekends.


Ingredients

  • 12 slices white bread
  • 8 oz deli ham
  • 8 oz deli turkey
  • 8 oz Swiss cheese
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Raspberry jam (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease your baking dish with melted butter.
  2. Layer 6 slices of bread evenly at the bottom of the dish.
  3. Add half of the deli ham, half of the turkey, and half of the Swiss cheese on top of the bread.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, meats, and cheese.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and cayenne until well combined.
  6. Pour this egg mixture evenly over the layered dish.
  7. For best results, let the casserole rest for 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
  8. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar just before serving, and consider offering raspberry jam on the side for a sweet dip.
