Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (divided use)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter
- 3/4 cup milk (whole or low-fat)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Combine the sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup of sugar, lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of flour. Allow this mixture to sit for about 10 minutes to release the juices.
- Whisk together the remaining flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in another bowl.
- Pour in the melted butter and milk, stirring until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the greased baking dish, then spoon the strawberry mixture evenly over the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the cobbler is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
- Let it cool for 15 minutes before serving warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful contrast. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
