Description
A quick and comforting skillet meal featuring tender chicken breasts in a silky garlic-Parmesan sauce, ready in about 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced in half horizontally
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth (low-sodium)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, for topping
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season the chicken pieces lightly with salt and pepper. Pat dry.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Add the chicken in a single layer and sear for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken to a plate.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant, about 30–60 seconds.
- Pour in chicken broth and scrape up browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Simmer for 2 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream and Italian seasoning, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Lower heat to low and stir in Parmesan cheese until smooth and thickened.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over each piece. Sprinkle remaining Parmesan on top.
- Cover and cook for 1–2 minutes to heat through.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
Notes
For a lighter sauce, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream. Always ensure chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
