Description
A creamy, comforting seafood bisque made with sweet crab meat and succulent shrimp, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 pound crab meat (fresh or jumbo lump)
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 cups seafood stock (or chicken stock)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup white wine (dry variety)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
- Cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions, celery, and carrots. Sauté until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the white wine and allow it to reduce, simmering for about 5 minutes.
- Add the seafood stock and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Introduce the crab meat and shrimp to the pot. Cook until the shrimp turns pink and opaque, roughly 5-7 minutes.
- Finally, stir in the heavy cream, seasoning with salt, pepper, and cayenne if desired.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
For a smoother bisque, use an immersion blender. Pairs well with crusty bread.
