Description

A creamy, comforting seafood bisque made with sweet crab meat and succulent shrimp, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound crab meat (fresh or jumbo lump)
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cups seafood stock (or chicken stock)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup white wine (dry variety)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish
  • Cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions, celery, and carrots. Sauté until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the white wine and allow it to reduce, simmering for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the seafood stock and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  6. Introduce the crab meat and shrimp to the pot. Cook until the shrimp turns pink and opaque, roughly 5-7 minutes.
  7. Finally, stir in the heavy cream, seasoning with salt, pepper, and cayenne if desired.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

For a smoother bisque, use an immersion blender. Pairs well with crusty bread.
