Ingredients
- 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Maple syrup for serving
- Powdered sugar for serving
- Fresh berries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish thoroughly.
- Cut the bread into cubes and spread them evenly in the dish.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring every piece is soaked.
- Cover your dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- The next morning, remove the plastic wrap and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set in the middle.
- Serve warm with a drizzle of maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, and optional fresh berries for a burst of color.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, consider using almond milk and a sugar substitute for a low-sugar alternative.
