Description
Decadent brownies topped with silky chocolate mousse, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- Whipped cream for serving (optional)
- Cocoa powder for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
- For the mousse, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering. Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate, stirring until melted and smooth. Let it cool slightly.
- Once cooled, whip the chocolate mixture until soft peaks form.
- Spread the chocolate mousse over the cooled brownies and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Serve chilled, optionally topped with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate or adding espresso powder for a mocha twist. These brownies can also be made gluten-free by using a suitable flour substitute.
