Description
A delicious homemade version of the beloved Chick-Fil-A crispy chicken sandwich, perfect for game days or a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breast halves
- 1/2 cup pickle juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- Oil for frying
- 4 hamburger buns
- Pickles, lettuce, tomato, and cheese slices (for topping)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1-2 teaspoons cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 3 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 2 teaspoons barbecue sauce (hickory flavor suggested)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a ziplock bag, combine pickle juice and water. Add chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Make the Sauce: Whisk together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, barbecue sauce, honey, garlic powder, paprika, and lemon juice. Set aside.
- Prepare the Breading: In a large bowl, mix together flour, powdered sugar, paprika, black pepper, chili powder, salt, and baking powder. In a separate bowl, whisk the milk and egg.
- Heat the Oil: In a large saucepan, heat 2-3 cups of oil to about 350°F.
- Coat the Chicken: Dip each marinated chicken breast in the egg mixture, then in the flour mixture. Repeat for extra crispiness.
- Fry the Chicken: Fry chicken for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and drain on paper towels.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Toast hamburger buns, spread sauce, and top with crispy chicken, lettuce, cheese, and desired toppings.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes to maintain crispiness.
