Description

This Cheesy Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread features a buttered ciabatta topped with a tangy, saucy ground beef mixture and melted mozzarella and cheddar for a comforting and delicious meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 ciabatta loaf (split in half lengthwise)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup finely diced yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1½ cups ketchup
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Mix the softened butter with garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Spread on the cut sides of ciabatta.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and brown, breaking it up.
  4. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the browned beef. Cook until the onion is softened.
  5. Stir in ketchup, water, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 4–6 minutes until thickened.
  6. Spoon the sloppy joe filling onto the buttered ciabatta. Top with mozzarella and cheddar.
  7. Bake for 8–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bread edges are golden.
