Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)
- 4 strips turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, followed by the buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, 1/2 teaspoon salt, black pepper, and onion powder in a separate bowl until well blended.
- Spread half of the biscuit dough in the prepared baking dish, creating an even layer.
- Pour the egg mixture over the biscuit layer and sprinkle with crumbled turkey bacon and the remaining cheese.
- Drop spoonfuls of the remaining biscuit dough over the egg mixture, distributing it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and set.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Can be frozen for longer storage. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
