Description

A warm, cheesy breakfast casserole with a delightful biscuit crust, featuring eggs, cheddar cheese, and crispy turkey bacon.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)
  • 4 strips turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, followed by the buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, milk, 1/2 teaspoon salt, black pepper, and onion powder in a separate bowl until well blended.
  5. Spread half of the biscuit dough in the prepared baking dish, creating an even layer.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the biscuit layer and sprinkle with crumbled turkey bacon and the remaining cheese.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining biscuit dough over the egg mixture, distributing it evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and set.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Can be frozen for longer storage. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
