An innovative twist on classic deviled eggs, featuring a crunchy exterior and creamy filling with a spicy Cajun kick.
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- Oil for frying
- Paprika for garnish
Instructions
- Hard boil the eggs by placing them in a pot of cold water, bringing it to a boil, covering, and removing from heat. Let sit for 10-12 minutes.
- Transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool.
- Once cooled, peel the eggs and cut them in half lengthwise. Scoop the yolks into a bowl.
- Mash the yolks with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Fill the egg whites with the yolk mixture.
- Roll the filled halves in bread crumbs.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat and fry the egg halves until golden brown on all sides.
- Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with paprika before serving.
Notes
Use very fresh eggs for easier peeling. Test oil temperature before frying for perfect crispiness. Consider alternative seasonings or dipping sauces.
