Quick and chewy protein-packed bagels made in an air fryer, perfect for busy mornings and meal prep.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- Pinch of salt (optional)
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cottage cheese (2% or 4% preferred)
- 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)
- Toppings: everything seasoning, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or coarse salt
Instructions
- Combine dry ingredients in a bowl: whisk together flour and baking powder, adding salt if desired.
- Add cottage cheese into the flour mixture and mix until a chunky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface briefly until it becomes semi-smooth.
- Shape the dough into four rings and roll them to about 6–7 inches in length.
- Brush the bagels with an egg wash and add your desired toppings.
- Preheat air fryer to 300°F and prepare the basket.
- Air-fry bagels in a single layer for 15–17 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool the bagels on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For denser flavor, use whole-milk cottage cheese. You can also replace cottage cheese with full-fat Greek yogurt if necessary.
