Description
A delicious mash-up of pizza and tater tots, perfect for busy weeknights and potlucks.
Ingredients
- 1 (32 oz / 900 g) bag frozen tater tots
- 2 cups (480 ml) pizza sauce or marinara sauce
- 1 ½ cups (170 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup (50 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup (50 g) sliced pepperoni (plus extra if desired)
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Optional add-ins: ½ lb (225 g) cooked ground beef or sausage, ¼ cup diced bell peppers, ¼ cup sliced black olives, ¼ cup diced onions
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread half of the tater tots evenly across the bottom of the dish in a single layer, drizzle with olive oil, and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the dish from the oven and pour pizza sauce over the pre-baked tots.
- Add any optional cooked meats or veggies and scatter across the sauce.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the toppings.
- Arrange the remaining tater tots on top and season with oregano, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the top tots are golden brown.
- In the last 5 minutes, add pepperoni slices on top to crisp up.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, use turkey or plant-based pepperoni. Adjust baking time if refrigerating assembled dish before baking.
