Description

This Taco Casserole combines seasoned ground beef, melty cheese, and crispy tortilla chips, baked to perfection for a family-friendly dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend preferred)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade mix)
  • 1 cup medium salsa
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 3 cups large scoop-style tortilla chips
  • ½ cup sour cream (for topping)
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes, draining excess fat.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and salsa; let it simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. In a 9×13 baking dish, layer half of the tortilla chips.
  5. Add half of the beef mixture followed by 1 cup of shredded cheese.
  6. Repeat with the remaining tortilla chips, beef mixture, and top with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
  8. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then top with sour cream and chopped cilantro before serving.

Notes

Customize with jalapeños, olives, or additional spices. Consider subs like ground turkey or plant-based proteins.
