Description

Delightful Southern fried chicken with a crispy golden crust and juicy tender meat inside, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken pieces (legs, thighs, breasts)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce. Marinate the chicken pieces in this mixture for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. In another bowl, mix together the flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat to about 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting excess drip off, and dredge in the flour mixture.
  5. Fry each chicken piece for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Pair with coleslaw, mashed potatoes or cornbread for a complete meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge or freeze for up to 2 months.
