Description
A comforting grilled cheese sandwich with the flavors of pizza, featuring gooey mozzarella, pizza sauce, and your favorite toppings, all pressed between buttery, golden bread.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of bread (sourdough or Italian)
- 2 slices of mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup pizza sauce
- Toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, cooked sausage)
- Butter (softened, for spreading)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet.
- Layer one slice of cheese on the bread, spread 1-2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on the cheese, add toppings, then top with the second slice of cheese.
- Place the second slice of bread on top, butter-side up.
- Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, about 2-4 minutes.
- Flip carefully with a spatula and cook until the second side is golden and cheese is melted, another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from skillet, let rest for 30 seconds, slice, and serve.
Notes
For extra crisp, use mayonnaise instead of butter. For gluten-free options, use GF bread.
