Description

A comforting grilled cheese sandwich with the flavors of pizza, featuring gooey mozzarella, pizza sauce, and your favorite toppings, all pressed between buttery, golden bread.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (sourdough or Italian)
  • 2 slices of mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • Toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, cooked sausage)
  • Butter (softened, for spreading)


Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet.
  4. Layer one slice of cheese on the bread, spread 1-2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on the cheese, add toppings, then top with the second slice of cheese.
  5. Place the second slice of bread on top, butter-side up.
  6. Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, about 2-4 minutes.
  7. Flip carefully with a spatula and cook until the second side is golden and cheese is melted, another 2-3 minutes.
  8. Remove from skillet, let rest for 30 seconds, slice, and serve.

Notes

For extra crisp, use mayonnaise instead of butter. For gluten-free options, use GF bread.
