Description

A delicious grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with pizza flavors, featuring gooey mozzarella and your choice of toppings, ready in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (sourdough or Italian recommended)
  • 2 slices of mozzarella cheese (or provolone, fontina, or mild cheddar)
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce (jarred or homemade)
  • Toppings: pepperoni, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, cooked sausage, or any pizza favorites
  • Butter (softened, for spreading)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet.
  4. Layer one slice of cheese on the bread, spread 1–2 tablespoons of pizza sauce, add toppings, and top with the second slice of cheese.
  5. Place the second slice of bread on top, butter-side up.
  6. Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, about 2–4 minutes.
  7. Flip carefully with a spatula and cook until the second side is golden and cheese is melted, another 2–3 minutes.
  8. Remove from skillet, let rest for 30 seconds to a minute, slice, and serve.

Notes

For extra crisp, use mayonnaise instead of butter. Make it gluten-free with GF bread. If you want to lower the saturated fat, use light butter spray or olive oil.
