Description

Crispy oven-baked tacos filled with savory ground beef, melty cheese, and fresh toppings, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ⅔ cup tomato sauce or salsa
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 8 hard taco shells
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup diced red onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Sour cream (optional)
  • Guacamole (optional)
  • Jalapeño slices (optional)
  • Hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Arrange the taco shells upright in a baking dish.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add minced garlic and taco seasoning to the skillet, stirring for about a minute.
  5. Pour in the tomato sauce or salsa and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  6. Spoon the beef mixture into each taco shell and sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 10–15 minutes or until cheese is melted and shells are crispy.
  8. Top with fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro.
  9. Serve warm with optional toppings.

Notes

For extra crispiness, do not overload the taco shells and allow the meat mixture to cool slightly before assembling.
