Description

A delightful twist on leftover basmati rice, creating a crunchy texture perfect for meals or as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked basmati rice (cooled)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic chili sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Spread the cooked rice evenly on a large, rimmed baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle sesame oil, garlic chili sauce, salt, and black pepper over the rice.
  4. Toss everything together until the rice is well-coated.
  5. Evenly spread the rice out on the pan.
  6. Bake the rice on a shelf just below the heat source for about 15 minutes, tossing halfway through.
  7. Continue to bake, tossing every 5 minutes, until the rice reaches your desired level of crispness—typically around 25-35 minutes total.
  8. Let the rice cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure the cooked rice is completely cooled before baking for the best texture. Tossing the rice midway through cooking is key to achieving an evenly crispy texture.
