Description

Deliciously crispy fried shrimp tossed in a sweet and spicy hot honey sauce, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan, mix the honey, hot sauce, butter, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Heat on medium until the butter melts, then set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Prepare the Egg Mixture: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.
  5. Heat the Oil: In a deep pan or frying pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  6. Bread the Shrimp: Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, shake off the excess, dip in the egg mixture, and coat again in the flour mixture.
  7. Fry to Perfection: Carefully place shrimp in the hot oil, frying them a few at a time for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Add the Sauce: Once all shrimp are fried, toss them in the hot honey sauce until well coated.
  9. Serve: Enjoy immediately with extra sauce for dipping!

Notes

For best results, fry in small batches and monitor the oil temperature.
