Description

Delicious homemade cheese sticks that replicate the flavors of your favorite pizzeria, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 large Egg Yolk
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water with the granulated sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit until it becomes foamy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic salt, oregano, and kosher salt until evenly combined.
  3. Combine: Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour in the yeast mixture, add the egg yolk, and melted butter. Stir until a dough starts to form.
  4. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  5. Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, roughly 1 hour.
  6. Shape the Dough: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once risen, roll the dough out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into sticks and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Top and Bake: Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the sticks. Bake for 12-15 minutes until they’re golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
