Description
A delicious and nutritious twist on the classic BLT, transformed into easy-to-make wraps with a flavorful secret sauce.
Ingredients
- 4 whole wheat tortillas (8-inch)
- 8 slices of bacon (or turkey bacon, or vegan bacon)
- 4 large romaine or butter lettuce leaves, rinsed and dried
- 1 medium tomato, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
- 1 ripe avocado, sliced
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt)
- Dash of hot sauce (optional; about 1/2 teaspoon)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the bacon: Fry or bake the bacon according to the package instructions until crispy. If baking, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and cook for about 12-18 minutes.
- Make the secret sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt) with a dash of hot sauce. Adjust to taste.
- Prep the tortillas: Lay a tortilla flat and consider toasting it in a dry skillet for 10-15 seconds on each side for added warmth and flavor.
- Spread sauce: Apply about 1 tablespoon of the secret sauce evenly over each tortilla, keeping a 1/2-inch border.
- Layer fillings: Add lettuce, 2-3 slices of tomato, a few slices of avocado, and 2 slices of bacon (or your preferred alternative) per wrap.
- Season: Sprinkle a pinch of salt and freshly cracked pepper on top.
- Roll and slice: Fold in the sides and roll the tortilla tightly from the bottom up. Slice in half diagonally and serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, keep wraps assembled until ready to eat to maintain crispness. Extra secret sauce can be served on the side.
