Description

A nostalgic and delicious fried chicken recipe that brings comfort to your dinner table.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken pieces (legs, thighs, breasts)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, or overnight if possible.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat, ensuring enough oil to submerge the chicken halfway.
  4. Dredge marinated chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess.
  5. Carefully place dredged chicken into hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Turn occasionally until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  6. Remove chicken from oil and drain on paper towels before serving hot.

Notes

For an extra-crunchy coating, dip the chicken back into buttermilk after the first dredge in flour for a second dip.
