Description
A comforting and quick pasta dish featuring penne, lean ground beef, and a rich creamy sauce that’s perfect for any weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 8 oz penne pasta
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tsp olive oil
Instructions
- In a pot, boil water and cook the penne according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve about 1 cup of pasta water.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks until it’s browned, roughly 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Gradually add the reserved pasta water, stirring until your desired sauce consistency is reached.
- Mix in the grated Parmesan until it melts and creates a creamy sauce.
- Toss the cooked pasta in the skillet with the sauce, ensuring every piece is coated.
- Plate the pasta hot, garnished with additional Parmesan or fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
Best served with a light green salad or crusty garlic bread. You can add extra herbs or red pepper flakes for added flavor.
