A soft, buttery loaf that nails the garlicky, pull-apart vibe, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Pour warm water over the yeast and sugar in a small bowl. Stir gently and wait 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and garlic powder.
- Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Lightly grease a bowl, place the dough inside, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in the prepared pan. Let rest for 10–15 minutes.
- Brush with beaten egg and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Brush with reserved melted butter for extra flavor.
Notes
Store cooled bread at room temperature for 2–3 days. Not recommended for refrigeration.
