Description
A hearty and creamy baked ziti dish made effortlessly in a slow cooker, combining pasta, cheese, and marinara for ultimate comfort.
Ingredients
- 12 oz ziti pasta
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the ziti pasta according to the package instructions until it’s al dente. Drain and set aside.
- If using meat, brown the ground beef or Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat, adding the minced garlic in the last minute. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, Italian seasoning, and cooked meat (if using).
- Pour half of this pasta mixture into the slow cooker. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Layer the remaining pasta mixture on top, followed by the leftover cheeses.
- Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 4-6 hours, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy the comforting goodness!
Notes
For a creamier texture, add an extra layer of ricotta cheese on top before adding the cheese layer. You can also add sautéed vegetables for more flavor.
