Description

Delightful twist on traditional banana bread with rich chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter until well combined.
  4. Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  7. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For variations, try adding nuts or spices, or substitute half of the sugar with brown sugar.
