Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined, then shape the mixture into meatballs.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Pour the marinara sauce over the browned meatballs in the skillet. Let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes to fully cook the meatballs and meld the flavors.
- Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet.
- Remove the meatballs from the skillet and fill each roll with a generous portion. Spoon additional marinara sauce over the meatballs for an extra burst of flavor.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of each sub.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Garnish with fresh basil, if desired, and serve hot!

For a leaner option, swap ground beef for turkey or chicken. Gluten-free breadcrumbs can be used for dietary restrictions.
