Description
A delightful twist on the classic Italian Alfredo sauce with a kick of Cajun flavor, perfect for pasta lovers.
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Cooked pasta of your choice (fettuccine, penne, linguine, or shells)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook your pasta according to package instructions and reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water before draining.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until foamy but not browned.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute without allowing it to brown.
- Pour in the heavy cream and gently bring it to a simmer, avoiding a boil.
- Stir in the Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth. If too thick, add a bit of reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
- Toss the hot cooked pasta with the sauce until well coated and serve immediately.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with a plant-based cream.
